Competitive Early Career Schemes

  1. Research Assistant Professorship (RAP): The Research Assistant Professorship (RAP) scheme aims to attract early career researchers focusing on research in particularly competitive areas. The RAP recipients must be sought after and of the highest rank. They are expected to bring special skills and expertise to NTU.
  2. Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF): The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science and Medicine. The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.
  3. Wallenberg-NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship: Supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Wallenberg - NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship provides the opportunity for early career scientists, engineers and scholars from Singapore and around the world to conduct independent investigations at NTU and a Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) research partner institution in Sweden.

PhD Scholarships

  1. AISG PhD Fellowship Programme: The AISG PhD Fellowship Programme is part of AISG’s Research programme which supports top AI research talents in pursuing their PhD in Singapore-based Autonomous Universities, including National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). There is no restriction on nominees' nationality. A competitive stipend of up to S$6,000 monthly, on top of other allowances and full tuition fees, support up to four years of studies at Singapore-based AUs.
  2. PhD Scholarships @ A*STAR Computing and Information Science (ACIS) Scholarship: for Singaporeans and other nationals intending to take up Singapore citizenship. A monthly stipend of S$5,000 (Singaporeans) / S$4,000 (Singapore PRs) / S$3,750 (Others) for 4 years. Full tuition fee support. Good conference travel support.
  3. The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA): This scholarship is available to international students seeking admission as a full-time student for a PhD by research, and is offered jointly by the university and the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR). It covers tuition fees, and provides an initial monthly stipend of S$2,000 (increasing after passing the PhD qualifying examinations), as well as one-time settling-in and airfare grants.
  4. PhD Scholarships @ the Alibaba-NTU Joint Research Institute: the Alibaba Talent Programme PhD Scholarship: Open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) only. A monthly stipend of S$5,000 for 4 years. Full tuition fee support. CPF contributions. Good conference travel support.
  5. Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS): The Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a full time PhD at NTU. A monthly stipend of S$3,600 (Singaporeans) / S$3,400 (Singapore PRs) / S$3,100 (Others) for 4 years. Full tuition fee support. Good conference travel support.
  6. NTU Research Scholarship: The NTU Research Scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduate students for research. You are eligible for this scholarship if you are a local or international student seeking admission as a full-time candidate pursuing a Graduate Research programme at NTU. A monthly stipend of S$2,800 (Singaporeans) / S$2,400 (Singapore PRs) / S$2,200 (Others) for 4 years. Full tuition fee support. Good conference travel support.
